The Reality Of FreeBSD And Steam Gaming (For Now)

I thought I'd take time out to play a game on FreeBSD while lecturing you about not playing games on FreeBSD. :)

Actually, FreeBSD is great for retro gaming and a few others.

But the question keeps getting asked:

"How well does Steam work on FreeBSD?"

Answer: it doesn't. Not yet anyway.

SteamOnBSD is a project that looked promising but runs a very unsafe script with root privileges so I wouldn't advise it).

My advice is to use the bsd's for what they're good for - everything else - and use a dedicated gaming machine if it's important to you.
